The City of Shoreline participates in two housing repair programs to help low and moderate income qualified residents maintain their owner occupied homes or make necessary accessibility improvements to owned or rental housing.

The Minor Home Repair Program provides carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs plus special aids for disabled access such as simple ramps, installing grab bars and handrails. The City contracts with Senior Services to provide this service. Home owners pay a small charge for labor and materials are provided at cost. For a free estimate call (206) 448-5751.

The Major Home Repair Program is for larger projects such as roofing and major structural repairs or for home accessibility modifications. The King County Housing Repair Program is administered on behalf of the city by King County. Assistance includes emergency grants up to $3,000 ($5,000 for mobile homes) which do not have to be repaid and deferred payment loans up to $25,000. A matching funds program provides one-half of the funds and the homeowner matches the funding with a loan from a local lender or private funds for amounts up to $50,000. Both the deferred payment loan and the matching funds program have the same features:

• 0% Interest
• No Monthly Payments
• Repaid at the time the home is sold or title transferred, home is refinanced, or is no longer used as your primary residence

A grant program to assist special needs renters with home accessibility modifications is also available between 8AM - 3PM, Monday - Friday.  To apply call (206) 263-9095.
